Former DMK minister Anbil Mahesh was arrested by Tamil Nadu police on corruption charges. The arrest follows allegations of a Rs 100 crore scam involving private schools. Mahesh is accused of collecting funds under the guise of a "party fund" during his tenure as School Education Minister from 2021 to 2026.

The police claim Mahesh accepted money from over 1,000 private school management committees in exchange for permanent recognition and administrative approvals. The case alleges he used his position to solicit bribes. The arrest was made in Chennai.

This is the second high-profile arrest in the Tamil Nadu government's anti-corruption drive. Earlier, former minister Poyyamozhi was arrested in a separate scam case. Both arrests have drawn public attention to corruption allegations within the DMK party. The police have not yet released detailed financial records or specific names of those involved. The case is under investigation.
